Continuous post-graduate studies provide assurance that our physicians are abreast of the very latest in advanced medical technology.
AAAHC
In January 2015, the practice endoscopy center was re-accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Accreditation distinguishes this surgical center from many other outpatient surgical facilities by providing a safe work environment and the highest quality for our patients. Status as an accredited organization means Gastroenterology, Ltd. has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care, outlined by the association.
“We believe our patients deserve the best,” states Dr. Alan Ganderson, emeritus physiatrist. “When you see our certificate of accreditation, you will know that the AAAHC, an independent, not-for-profit organization, has closely examined our facility and procedures. It means that we, as an organization care enough about our patients to strive for the highest care possible.” According to Dr. Jan Janson, director of Continuous Quality Improvement at the time of accreditation, “Going through the process of accreditation challenged us to find better ways to serve our patients, and it is a constant reminder that our first responsibility is to our patients and the quality of care we provide.”
ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program
Gastroenterology, LTD-Colon Cancer Prevention and Endoscopy Center of Virginia Beach has also successfully met the requirements to be recognized as a unit that promotes quality in endoscopy through the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program. This program recognizes units that have demonstrated a commitment to specialized training and adherence to ASGE guidelines on privileging, quality assurance and reprocessing, as well as to the infection control guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
